At one of  Las Vegas’s newest casinos, Crystals I stumbled upon Marni’s
window display. The window display of the store was playful as it represented an abstracted clothing line in a unique form displaying women’s clothing. While on Marni’s website, I came across a video for The Denim Project which was pretty fun as well.

Beijing Noodle No. 9 located in Caesars Palace Las Vegas caught my eye due to the walk through entrance flanked by gigantic fish tanks leading into a dinning area. The walls and ceiling have a clear cut out pattern which also drew me in. The restaurant space engages the customer on many levels. A friend of my recently told me about how ridiculous the lobby design of the Comcast Center in Philadelphia was. The lobby has 84 foot-wide LED screens with art installations consisting of views of Philadelphia historic sites, images of space, dancers, acrobats and actors moving around a background designed to mimic wood paneling of the walls of the lobby. Another part of the installation displays images of cranes and machinery forming into a clock which tells the correct time of day The Comcast Center draws many people to the outside windows of their building each day approximately 400 a day at lunch time. What is even more interesting about this building is it the tallest building in Philadelphia, 15th tallest in the U.S. and the tallest sustainable building in the country. The Comcast Center was designed by architect Robert A.M. Stern and the lobby LCD design was created by David Niles of Niles Creative Group.

In the past few years I’ve noticed a lot of retail stores like Borders making recommendations to their consumers based on their interests/previous purchases. This is a unique way to engage consumers on a personal level. You see this more online at sites like Amazon. I think it is a good idea to do this in stores as well.

From the balcony of my hotel room in San Diego I could see this cute little cafe/deli Spicy Pickle but wasn’t sure if it was worth checking out since there were so many great restaurants in the area. One day on the way out I decided to stop there to grab a quick bite to eat. I really liked the interior design and wall art as it had a vintage feel to it. Oh and I ordered the med sub. Definitely tasty.

It’s a great feeling when you two of the things you love so much come together all at once…great branding and great food! When I dine at a restaurant I want delicious food surrounded by a pleasant atmosphere (usually the interior being well designed representing the brand makes it even better!). When I went to Burger Lounge in San Diego it had both of these. I was surrounded by walls of enticing words about the food I was going to receive and was food was everything the walls said mouth watering, juicy and scrumptious just to name a few.

This morning I was reading am New York and came across this article about Le Vigne a West Village wine shop that has been designed on a budget but with a strong concept. The materials used were from Good will and The Salvation Army but were designed in such a way that this space is a masterpiece. I love the way the interior of this store looks and the presentation of the wine. The design team that made this happen is MADLAB a design firm based in Montclair, NJ.

Speaking of Luzzo’s they have been doing some rearranging. They have living room sets consisting of arm chair, side table and lamps hanging from the ceiling upside down. I really like the restaurant redesign of the interior. It continues to maintain that home/cozy feel while having something interesting hanging from the ceilings like windows. Oh and of course I had to attach a picture of their delicious pizza.
