I was in Bethlehem, PA visiting a friend and we went to this wonderful Christmas market full of crafts, artwork and decorations. I came across Georgie LeHoop who painted with drumsticks. Yes…Drum sticks that you play the drums with.
His work was very unique and on canvases as well as t-shirts.

With the holiday in mind I recently strolled through Columbus Circle’s holiday market and came across the booth for The Walking Art that literally had amazing works of art. This vendor had paintings with photographs and objects collaged on top of the, photo collages, and etchings just to name a few of the unique work of a variety of artists. I purchased some art for myself and as gifts. I really loved their work!

I came across a sort of The Degenerate Craft Fair via Art Bistro. The Degenerate Craft Fair is an anti-art-fair featuring over 20 artists and designers. Just in time for holiday shopping, it will take place in the first three weekends of December at three different locations, and feature works of art generally priced under $50.

13th DUMBO Art Under the Bridge Festival

Art Under the Bridge is a multi-site happening unique to Dumbo since 1997, the historic post-industrial neighborhood spanning the East River waterfront between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. The event’s enduring magic is the transformation of an entire neighborhood into a vibrant platform for self-expression over 3 days once a year. New artworks by young visual artists are created on-the-spot everywhere and anywhere: they may be specific to a particular site or they may wander. They may be projected or afloat. They may be performed or make sound, they may glow in the dark or ride an elevator, they may occupy a corporate lobby or beg your interaction, or they may just sit there and demand your attention.

I came across this today and I wish I knew about this! This seems like something really awesome to experience. I may have to check it out!

The other day I was walking on 5th Avenue and came across this interesting gallery space. I wasn’t sure what this was at first. Peter Tunney is using this space 666 5th avenue on 52nd street to display his interesting collaged pieces of newspapers, books, magazines, etc. with dramatic typography. The Peter Tunney Experiment is a working studio and gallery so you may see him working amongst his work. His work reminded me very much of David Carson’s as it had a California feel to it. It made me think of San Diego instantly.

Last night I went to Metuchen’s Junebug Arts Festival. Metuchen’s Main Street was filled with artists and their work. There was a variety of work including paintings, illustrations, drawings, people drawing caricatures, and live music! I would definitely love to participate in this next year.

I attended the opening night “Art on Record” at the APW Gallery in Long Island City, Queens. A friend of mine Sarah Panetta submitted her records which are in the above image along with the other submissions. Feel free to check out her work and the other submissions.

When in London I visted the Tate Modern and came across this artist Jenny Holzer. Most of her work at this particular museum were projections like the above image. The Whitney is having an exhibition Jenny Holzer: PROTECT PROTECT which I will be going to next Friday. It runs until May 31st.
