IdeasThat Stick

On August 3, Post-it /3M celebrated their 30th anniversary and teamed with Publicolor on creating the National Student Design Contest. This contest challenged students in grades 6 to 12 to think about what will happen in their lives in 30 years and create a work of art. This billboard was made of multi-colored Post-it Super Sticky Notes and is located in  Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall in New York City.

Gap iPhone App Mix Not Max

I keep bringing up the concept of retailers engaging with their consumer to form a brand relationship. Gap, Inc. has done with their iPhone app Mix Not Match. This app allows the user can scroll through the different outfits on a model right on your iPhone. You have the ability to create and then select the outfit where it then separates the pieces of clothing that you can add to a gift list or your shopping chart.  The functionality of this app allows the viewer to create a look they like and then order it instantaneously. What is even more interesting about this app is that a contest was held for iPhone software developers to create an application that embodies the clothing and apparel brand’s preppy style. This continues to show that Gap has a relationship with their consumers to help represent the brand. via Mobile Marketer.

NHL 2K10 Zamboni in NYC

A few days ago a friend of mine told me he saw a Zamboni driving in the streets on Manhattan. Yeah the machine that comes out and resurfaces the ice in hockey games on the streets of Manhattan?! The NHL was promoting a new video video game NHL 2K10 by having Alex Ovechkin drive a NHL branded Zamboni up 6th Avenue to the NHL Store. It was a pretty unique advertising strategy. Videos can be found on NHL’s website of this event.

Austrian Airlines

My friend told me he saw  Smart Cars with wings in a row which looked like an airplane on 6th Avenue. The drivers of the cars were wearing pilot uniforms. I went to the source Google of course. Turns out Austrian Airlines is running a campaign, “The Smart Ride to Europe” with this decked out cars. In hopes that people will fly Austrian Airlines by having these Smart Cars driving in New York City and Washington DC.
